Breakfast the next morning at Il Miraggio, included with our stay, somehow felt like the perfect final chapter to a dream we weren’t ready to wake up from. Walking into a breakfast space carved with stone and cratered walls that resembled an ancient cave only added to the magic this place carried in every detail.
The spread included fresh breads, pastries, cheeses, meats, eggs, honey, jams, and everything you needed, but they also offered made to order crepes and omelets by the chef. Add in cappuccinos, breakfast cocktails, and the warm service from our new friend who had taken such great care of us the night before, and it became another unforgettable moment.
As beautiful as breakfast was, it carried that bittersweet feeling that comes when you know you’re about to leave somewhere special. We packed up for a day of exploring off the beaten paths and hidden villages in Tuscany, but drove away knowing Il Miraggio was more than just a hotel stay. It was the kind of place that makes time slow down giving you time to reflect. It was a place we could have happily disappeared into for weeks without ever feeling the need to leave. We left knowing it was going to be very hard to ever duplicate, however, it would be a place we would always have to think about.
